Design, development and validation of a real-time PCR assay for detection of Klebsiella pneumoniae complex in environmental matrixes

Résumé

Klebsiella Klebsiellapneumoniae (Kp )represents agrowinggrowing public publichealth concern due dueto the emergence emergence of multidrug multidrug multidrug resistance resistance and hypervirulence hypervirulence . Seven closely related relatedphylogroups constitute constitute the Kp species species speciescomplex complex :Klebsiella Klebsiellapneumoniae pneumoniae pneumoniae (phylogroup (phylogroup Kp 1), K.quasipneumoniae quasipneumoniae subsp .quasipneumoniae (Kp 2)and subsp .similipneumoniae similipneumoniae similipneumoniae similipneumoniae similipneumoniae (Kp 4), K.variicola variicola variicolasubsp .variicola variicola(Kp 3)and subsp .tropicalensis tropicalensis (Kp 5), K.quasivariicola quasivariicola ’ (Kp 6)and K.africanensis africanensis (Kp 7). Kp is describeddescribed described described as ubiquitousubiquitous ubiquitous ubiquitousin naturenature .Water,Water, Water,sewage, soil and vegetation could be environmental environmental sources of Kp but their exact contribution contributioncontribution contributionin its itstransmission transmission routesroutes is still unknown .
